Cook County Starting to Open Up
Are there signs of light in Cook County? The County Board has expressed its intent to webstream board meetings and also post contracts online. They met some resistance because of cost concerns, but as anyone who has researched transparency knows, implementing comprehensive transparency does not have to be an expensive venture, and in most cases we have seen, it costs next to nothing.
Do you want more a open, accountable government in Cook County? Do your part and support comprehensive transparency, which entails posting all expenditures, including but not limited to contracts, vendors, grants, the amount paid and who authorized it.
