CTA: Go Transparent.

Sick of CTA fare hikes? Read about another upcoming fare increase in today’s Chicago Tribune.

Instead of raising prices to solve its budget deficit problem, the CTA should look to the root of the problem and start reforming costly, innate problems that will not go away by hiking fares. As a first step to eliminating the waste and inefficiencies of the CTA, it should implement comprehensive transparency.

All government transit agencies should implement transparency and show the public, those footing the bill, how every tax dollar is spent. Transparency would allow government, and the public, to see how well or poorly the CTA operates, and from there, they could start reforming the CTA and eliminating wasteful spending instead of continuing down the path of hiking fares and putting your tax dollars down the drain.
