Show Us the Money Mayor Daley
In a rare united front of Chicago Alderman, they are asking Mayor Daley, “where is the money going?” According to CBS Channel 2, “Show Us the Money: City Alderman Want Answers,” 46 of the 50 city alderman signed a petition to figure out how Mayor Daley plans on spending the potential stimulus money.
They want answers, and rightfully so, “we want to make sure the money that’s meant for everybody actually gets to everybody,” said Ald. Leslie Hairston. While we can disagree on what will actually stimulate the economy, it is important that there is transparency in the process, not secrecy like Mayor Daley has provided thus far.
When will Mayor Daley get around to answering the calls from alderman and the growing interest from citizens, he responded with, “Shortly.” Stimulus funds should start trickling down to states very shortly, and Daley’s pet-project could see funding not to far down the road.
