Liberty Leader Dianna Visek scored another victory for fiscal transparency late last month in her home city of Urbana.

At the city council meeting last Monday [December 15], a resolution in favour of publishing of the comprehensive city budget on the internet passed by a simple voice vote!

The Mayor of Urbana, Laurel Lunt Prussing has vigourously opposed transparency through many statements, political manoeuvres, letters to the editor and other artifices.  Prussing recently spoke out against transparency at the previous meeting of the committee of the whole.  She criticised those of us who have worked so hard to get this measure past and went into a emotional state of near melt-down.  It’s a bit hard to appreciate the intensity of her hissy fit on the video, but I post it here for those interested. 

Now citizens can access public information never before available online. Congratulations, Dianna and the entire team from Urbana.
