100-Day Mission, and Then?
Can they overcome the “Springfield two-step?”
The Illinois Reform Commission has all the right intentions, and fortunately, transparency sits at the top of their agenda. Transparency is the first step to reforming Illinois. You need to be able to see the corruption in order to effectively and efficiently weed it out. The “weeding” may seem daunting, and it will be a continual task — but at least transparency would allow leaders (and the public) to see where to target the weed wacker instead of working in the dark, which is the current situation.
By no means will transparency, or other good government policies (find here) ever entirely destroy the bad things involved in politics, but with reform, like implementing transparency, we’ll have a better Illinois.
