Cook County Transparent!

Cook County taxpayers are due for some good news…and some came today!

Cook County Commissioner Tony Peraica has successfully passed his transparency resolution!

“This is a victory for the county taxpayers, as well as everyone who believes in reform and open, honest government,” said Peraica. “We ask our taxpayers to shoulder the highest tax burden in the country – we owe it to them to provide full transparency on how their money is being spent.”

Peraica also called on the board to appoint a bi-partisan, private sector commission to identify waste and abuse in the county budget, which sounds like it will be similar to the committee DuPage County established after going transparent (which should produce its first report very soon, keep an eye out).

Peraica continued, “We’re declaring war on the waste and abuse that costs taxpayers millions of their hard-earned money, “It’s time to usher in a new era of transparency and fiscal sanity in Cook County government.

First DuPage, now Cook County — sunshine is pushing through in Illinois! Let’s keep the momentum going.
